September 20, 2013 -Enablis East Africa and energy4everyone have launched the first Enablis business plan competition in Tanzania aimed at discovering and supporting entrepreneurs for growth. The competition, which runs between August 29, 2013 and November 15 2013, is a platform for Tanzanians with outstanding businesses or ideas to showcase their innovations through written business plans.
To enter the competition, aspiring entrepreneurs will submit an online business plan entry on http://bpctanzania.enablis.org. by September 30, 2013 or drop hard copies at Enablis offices in Dar es Salaam and Arusha. The competition organizers have already conducted a series of awareness and training sessions six locations (Kinondoni, Ilala and Temeke Districts, Kibaha Town Centre, Arusha Town Centre and Arumeru District) to enhance the participants’ skills in writing business plans. 571 participants have already attended these sessions with great interest and motivation. “While we appreciate that today’s nascent businesses will be tomorrow’s giants, this competition will focus on startups and more on mature businesses because it is them that are more attuned for funding and mentorship and therefore job creation, which is a key Enablis objective and an ingredient for societal well-being,” stated Mr Fredrick Kariuki, Regional Director, Enablis East Africa.
Mr. Frank Durnford, Acting Executive Director, energy4everyone, stated that “The energy4everyone Foundation partnered with Enablis because we firmly believe that the work that they do, from training, business incubation, coaching and providing access to finance is a key contributor of the growth of energy entrepreneurship in Tanzania and has potential to improve access to energy countrywide. The opportunities for formal sector employment are li mited at any one point in time, but here are many more opportunities for innovation, entrepreneurship and self-employment. This is especially true in the energy sector."
