MONTREAL, CANADA - Friday, February, 27 2014: Enablis East Africa is pleased to announce that it has partnered with Aspen Network of Development Entrepreneurs (ANDE) to train women on public procurement in several counties across Kenya. The first training, in partnership with ANDE and Investeq, was held in Thika, Kiambu county on the 13th and 14 th of February.
This program is designed for businesswomen who are interested in participating in public procurement following the amendment of the procurement law in Kenya. The law states that at least 30% of all the public procurement expenditure be reserved for the disadvantaged groups (women, youth, persons with disabilities, minorities and micro enterprises). The project targets to train and inspire 300 businesswomen in five (5) Counties to register and participate in public tenders.
Enablis East Africa's Regional Director Fredrick Kariuki says the training aims at providing a level playing field for women seeking government tenders.
